Practice Director – Sydney
Howorth is seeking a talented and experienced practice director to lead its Digital Lifestyle practice. The ideal candidate excels in a role as a true client leader and will have experience in traditional PR, with particular experience communicating technology to consumers through a range of channels.
Experience with consumer / digital trends, and interest in social media will be beneficial, as well as an understanding of below the line marketing and the role PR can play to create sustainable word of mouth and customer evangelism.
The ideal candidate will lead clients through strong counsel and possess proactive business development skills; overseeing outstanding delivery and driving strategy that can deliver key media relations opportunities. He/she will also identify and build sustainable connections to help our clients reach and motivate their audiences beyond traditional media relations.
The candidate should enjoy a challenge and the opportunity to grow the business through exceptional new business strategy and implementation skills. He/she also holds excellence, loyalty and partnership as strong values.
The ideal candidate should have the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience in managing a diverse client portfolio of leading multi-national and local brands, preferably in the digital lifestyle or consumer fields.
- Understanding of the digital environment, including social media.
- Experience in broader marketing outside PR, demonstrating use of channels to drive word of mouth.
- Confidence in providing strategic advice and direction to clients at all levels.
- Demonstrable track record of creative campaigns.
- Successful track record of building and maintaining a strong team.
- Significant experience in new business and selling new services/projects to current and potential clients.
- Can successfully lead new business teams from RFP stage through to the development of the strategy, creative ideas, execution, budgets and measurement.
- Ability to counsel at all levels of client contact and develop strategic solutions to client needs or issues.
- Routinely display strong people management and development skills.
- Ability to anticipate strategic issues and respond accordingly.
- Presenting in an effective and persuasive manner.
- Excellent overall financial management of the client portfolio and practice area.
- High energy and able to deal with the demands of managing a blue chip digital lifestyle client.
- Capability of injecting progressive thinking about PR into the business.
- Ability to coach others and help them succeed.
- Open and direct communication skills; exercises excellent intuition with people.
- Experience in a PR, digital or BTL marketing role within the consumer technology space
- BA Communications – or equivalent formal qualification.
